Every computer-savvy technocrat is partial to their own web browser of choice. I’ve used every major one out there, and have to come to the conclusion that there is no one-for-all browser that everyone should use. That should go without saying though.

Every computer-savvy technocrat is partial to their own web browser of choice. I’ve used every major one out there, and have to come to the conclusion that there is no one-for-all browser that everyone should use. That should go without saying though.

Okay, so… Let’s list the major browsers then:

Microsoft Internet Explorer

Mozilla’s Firefox 3

Apple’s Safari 3

Google’s Chrome

Opera

So, lets start out with Internet Explorer.

I honestly don’t use it. Ever. I did back in the day, but now I honestly see no reason to. The average grandmother or design professional with no technological experience at all cannot even comprehend the concept of a web browser, so this accounts for its widespread use I assume. I don’t know anything special about it, aside from the fact that it allows very easy access to lower-level system calls for malicious code to be run. Oh joy. This problem seems to be fixed in new versions, but still. It’s slow, it’s cumbersome, it’s a little shiny. I’m not going to stop you from using it, but I think you’ll have much better luck with other browsers, not to mention a much more enjoyable browsing experience.

Alas, the almighty Firefox 3.

Cutting-edge technology. Very fast rendering engine. Muti-platform. Countless number of addons that range from anything from video-grabbers, text scramblers, and porn guzzlers (btw, I am in no way endorsing such activity). Why not use Firefox? It’s incredibly robust, completely open-source, very secure, and runs an just about anything from an IBM mainframe to a pocket calculator. This was my personal favorite, and, in a way, still is. We’ll get into that in a moment though.

The forbidden Safari 3.

A once OSX-only browser, Safari was to OSX as Internet Explorer was to Windows. Little known to most people, actually, is that Microsoft and Apple made a deal back in the day, and for a few years, Internet Explorer was included on every Apple computer. But back to my point, there are others available now for OSX. As a matter of fact, I believe even Internet Explorer can be natively installed. Don’t hold me to that though. Anyway, Safari is also avaible for Windows now. It works very very fast. Not quite as fast as Firefox 3, but it’s very smooth. Looks great too. Not to much as addons are concerned, but it works wonderfully. If you’re not a software-freak then I see no reason not to use this. Its great if you don’t want many features. It’s a no-crap browser. Although, I’ll have to admit, you should be careful while using it. There’s no SSL support, which means no secure browsing, which could mean no privacy… but hey, just don’t use any credit cards. ^_^

OMG! Google Chrome!

At last, Google Chrome. It works well. It’s fast. It’s only made for Windows. Oh, and Linux users, here. You don’t have to miss out anymore. Crossover Chromium! Give it a shot. Built in Gears and Prism support is a huge plus, as I use each of those every day. Process-independent tabs is also a fantastic plus. Firefox should adapt this as soon as possible. Mozilla is attempting to integrate both Prism and Gears into the Firefox code base I believe so there isn’t too much advantage in that for long. It’s a nice refreshing look at a browser that actually works. Also perfect for someone who doesn’t do much online. There’s a lot of power behind that ease-of-use though, if you know where to look. Google Chrome.

Opera? What’s that?

Who knows why it’s not as popular as it should be. It’s fast, it’s sleek, its insanely compliant, it’s powerful. The main reason I don’t use it is it’s lack of addons. It has addon support, but not many people use it, so few are available. I encourage everyone to check it out at least. If they just marketed it, I think it’d be really popular. Opera.

And now, for Flock: my personal favorite.

While all of the browsers have their strengths, Firefox stands out to me as a power user. It allows me

I’ve always found myself fiddling with social addons that allow me to connect to my social networking sites and easily share nuggets in the web that I discover with my friends. Never really could find anything good enough. And then there was Flock. This is by far my favorite browser. It has all of the power and robustness of Firefox, plus built in support for all of my favorite websites. It even comes with a Blog Writer client. Much more useful than what I’ve been resorting to using in Linux, Drivel. Doesn’t compare to Windows Live Writer still, but hey, I’m not complaining. It also has a wonderfully useful web clipboard. If you are a user of any major social networking site, like to share links with people, use Google Apps, Delicious, or anything else, this browser is or you. Oh, and it’s compliant with almost all of Firefox’s plugins and addons. So what do you have to loose?Flock.

Oh, and just the the record, anyone who considers Firefox or Chrome/ium an “Operating System” should be shot… Yes, I’m being seirous. People have actually written this. Seriously… Why? Becacuse we need better journalists in the Tech industry, that’s why.

Examples:

TechRadar

NWSource

Thank God the election is finally over, and now the rest of America can get on with their lives.

I understand, to a certain degree, the behaviors of some friends of mine, but most of the behavior that I witnessed is just uncalled for. Relax people, please. What’s the huge deal? It’s a president. Yes, I understand that it determines our future. Eventually though, I think that you’ll come to realize that your vote doesn’t matter all that much. But that’s just my opinion. I have no problem with people voting. At all. But the hatred associated with presidential elections in itself is immoral and wrong.

Calm down please, and realize what things are truly important in life.

I’ve recently come to identify myself with the hacker community. While I have always considered myself to be apart of this, I recently have become slightly more… enabled in certain areas.

The typical Protestant work ethic is that is a “value emphasizing the necessity of constant labor in a person’s calling as a sign of personal salvation.” I must heavily disagree.

The principles of the hacker ethic are:

Access to computers — and anything which might teach you something about the way the world works — should be unlimited and total. Always yield to the Hands-on Imperative!

All information should be free.

Mistrust authority — promote decentralization.

Hackers should be judged by their hacking, not bogus criteria such as degrees, age, race, or position.

You can create art and beauty on a computer.

Computers can change your life for the better.

I couldn’t agree more…

Our society seems to be lacking quite a bit of respect. People have a tendency to mock at each other, naming certain groups as superior to others…

Why do we do this?

it’s pretty sickening when you think about it… I mean, why would any single person think that they are better than someone else?

White collar workers have a tendency to look down upon laborers, while the middle class, suburban soccer-moms spite at drug abusers and the like. The church is often accused of this as well – and is often guilty.

What hypocrisy.

I feel this way about patriotism honestly. What gives us the right to say that we think that America is the best country in the world? Are we not all bound by the same human limitations as everyone else on this planet?

Why would anyone pledge their allegiance to a flag???? I don’t say the pledge of allegiance – I think there are few things that are done so mindlessly in our culture – aside from people meaninglessly referring to God…but that is of course merely my opinion – and aside, is quite understandable.

We call ourselves “ Americans“… are the inhabitants of South and Cental America not also “Americans”? What about Canada?

Think about that. Please.

Evolution?
Certainly, through various scientific methods of experimentation and observation, the basic theory of evolution is, in fact, valid. But evolution cannot, in any means, be the source of life, as people often make it out to be. Evolution does exist however.
Animals and humans alike all adapt to their surroundings – often the changes in the animal kingdom can be quite drastic. This is the theory of evolution at work. The findings of Darwin from his studies of the Galapagos Islands are indeed valid and are scientifically accurate.
But it cannot be the source of life as we know it.

Body systems are so incredibly complicated and intricate, it is impossible for them to have evolved over time from simpler systems. The organs that make up a body system certainly cannot sustain themselves, or even function, without all of the other organs doing their part as well. Any creature would die if it did not have a heart – or a liver – or a kidney – or a spleen, all working in synchronous harmony. Life is irreducibly complex. In order for animals to reproduce and sustain themselves, they must function perfectly on their own. It is simply not possible for evolution to be the source of life.

So where DID life originate from?

Let’s take the big bang theory–the precursor to life-originating evolution–and let’s say, for this essay’s sake, that it is correct. Any plausible theory that makes any logical since involves matter, some way or another, as the world as we know it is composed of matter. This matter is changed, moved, morphed, or arranged somehow and *poof* we have that magical spark that is life, and from there on out, we have what we have today.
Now think for a moment… where did that matter originate from? Where did the energy necessary for any kind of movement, reaction, etc. come from? It had to have been created/placed there somehow. But matter cannot generate more matter from itself or cause itself into being. Nor can energy. So where did it come from?
The only logical explanation is a something else. And that something else must be created by something else. This infinite loop is the only answer.

Let’s get a bit more technical with this. In mathematical terms, everything must have started from something. Zero cannot by multiplied in any way to equal anything but itself, zero. This proves that there most have been something here to begin with which could generate this matter. Something is infinitely greater than nothing. Zero cannot equal Infinity. Infinity equals infinity – nothing else can. There is no other logical explanation. So our universe originated from an infinity. But what is this infinity?
This infinity is a Creator.
But who created this Creator then?

Infinity is, by it’s nature, only capable of rendering infinity. The Creator is not only infinite, He is infinitely infinite. His infinity is the source of his Infiniteness. He is the source of His own power, the “perfectly efficient machine”, and the end of the equation. He is the infinite beginning and the infinite end to all things, and the only logical explanation.
This is a Creator who is omnipotent, omniscient, an omniinfinite. A Creator who is infinite in majesty, power, and grace. The epitome of infinite perfection.

This is God.
And that is why I call him Lord.
And that is why I have devoted my life to bring glory unto his name.
